Brake problem

Brake problem
Ok, I just put new front pads on my 98 TA today. The front right is fine, but the left front wheel is too tight. I could almost torque the lug nuts down all the way with the sar in the air, so, the brakes are obviously somewhat applied. The car loses speed too fast when not on the gas. How can I correct this? Do I just need to open the caliper again and compress the pistons more? The pads are seated fine. They don't make any abnormal noise, they just grab the rotor a bit without the brakes applied. Please help!

Ok, I went in, compressed the piston more, and applied some grease to the caliper bolt. everything went together quite a bit more smoothly this time, and the wheel was able to rotate with just the force of my hand when it was off the ground, so, I think I fixed it.

If the caliper slider pins were stuck or bound up, you'd have the first problem you described. If you got them free and properly lubed (with disk brake caliper lube) and it all moves freely, you should be fine. If not, get new pins and a new PAB and replace them.

The two bolts you remove from the caliper (to remove the caliper) are screwed into a metal pin or rod that has a rubber boot on it. The boot keeps water out and grease in. Those pins should slide in and out easily. It sounds like one side is working as it should (but should be lubed properly while your are doing brakes). If those pins are stuck, the caliper can't move to adjust for pad wear (only one side of the caliper has pistons, and the force pulls the other side in by sliding on those pins).
A mechanic should be able to clear it up, but I think there is info on LS1howto.com also.
