caliper movement I just replaced my pads with some raybestos for $35 from Kragen's for the time being. I'm going to be doing the c5 brake conversion as soon as I can get some money.
I was installing my passenger's side pads when I noticed that the caliper has slight movement from side to side. My question is, are the calipers supposed to move from side to side? Both sides do this, so I figured it was normal but then again maybe both of them are messed up.
I need a quick response if anyone can give me a for sure answer.

It's called a 'floating caliper'. Some calipers have pistons on both sides (like porsche) - not the floating type. F-bods have pistons on only one side of the caliper assembly. The caliper has to slide to let the pads on the 'non-piston' side push on the rotor.
You should make sure all four calipers are moving free on the slider pins. Lube them up good.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I wasn't exactly sure since I had never really moved them around while putting on new pads. Overall I didn't have any problems with anything. My pads were about 4 mm from the metal, but a part of the caliper was coming in contact with the rotor, which was causing all the noise. It sounded like someone was trying to push a shovel on the sidewalk.
