Wandering on the Highway
I took my Hawk out for a nice cruise on a main expressway here on Long Island today...Just put on AR TTM's (17x9 and 17x10.5) with 275's up front and 315 BF Dr's in the rear...
My question is: The car would not stay in the lane, wandered right to left all over the place...The road is grooved from big trucks....scared the hell out of me a few times...The car was aligned last year...Should the specs be different with the 315's??
The car has 45,000 on the stock shocks, hotchkis lowering springs, lakewood panhard, lakewood LCA's...
Any input on this??? I was gonna throw a can of gas on it when I got home and light a match....My 06 4 runner handles better
I also noticed this once i stepped up to a wider tire...... Its kinda scary sometimes will all the construction that has been going on here lately....
Scott.
You live in SA buddy, it's a wonder you can get anywhere in an fbody and live, let alone with wider tires. I remember what happens when it rains. Road = minefield
Seriously though, wider tires follow any road annomally more, even if your alignment is true. I am interested in hearing about those tie rods though. Has anyone put them on?

my 99 camaro is dropped 1.5 in the front with 18' wheels and 275/40/18 tires and bilsteins and i dont have a problem with it wandering but when i had the factory 17's and de carbon shocks it did a little but not as bad as my TA does now.
i think it has alot more to do with choice of shocks than tire width.
