Default bent phr

Anyone ever bend a PHR from just torque? I was checking out the PHR underneath and saw that I have a huge bend in my spohn PHR.

I did a search and could not find anyone who has done this.

edit: I updated the links.

Wow! After numerous off road excursions and a few fender taps on my road race firebird, my aluminum stuff is holding up really well.

Your car must have taken a heck of a shot in the diff.

Were you doing doughnuts and slammed the rear end into a curb? That, or sliding sideways and sliding into something at speed. Those are the only ways I could think to cause that to happen.

That picture does explain why we (Mitch, myself and others) were so against the adjustable PHB with the adjuster right in the center of the bar. We said that was the point where it would fail (buckle, bend or otherwise), and gee, that's where this bar failed.

Nope, I was just trying to find any possible explanation for a PHB that's bent that way. It had to be a very hard impact between the rear wheel and "something" while traveling sideways. I figured a doughnut into a curb or "drifting gone horribly wrong" (spun it in a corner and hit a curb/pothole, etc) as the only possible explanation. That car had to have hit something, unless someone was just doing pullups on the PHB while the car was on a lift (and a big guy at that).

that is amazing.. were the bolts all tourqued corectly to your knowledge? maybe a loose bolt could allow movent puting stress on a point on the bar or maybe having it too tight didnt give it the ability to absorbe the force? i dont know much about this stuff just an idea i was throwing out there...

Everything was torqued fine. It was bent up too. There have only been a few times that I did not jack the car myself and maybe it was jacked on the PHR by accident enough to start the bend and then it just kept bending. Wheels are straight and everything else is ok.

Maybe you backed over a curb and it was just enough to bend the bar? We're all grasping at straws at this point.

That doesn't appear to be a Spohn build issue, though.

I'm shocked! I've never heard of someone bending their PHR without being in an accident, I'm at a loss here...

I have a friend who had someone jack up his road race car by the harmonic balancer (thought they were under the K member). This bent the crank snout and the engine came to a rapid, but spectacular demise soon after it was put back out on track. So, a jacking accident is probably as good of a guess as any.
