I have talked to various people who only have the springs and have had no problems with their stock shocks. Has anyone here had problems with their stock shocks? If just doing the springs, will it negatively affect the 1/4 mile time?

I don't race my Z-28, so I can't comment on 1/4 mile times. However, I installed the Eibach "pro-kit" lowering springs on my '96 Z-28 when the car was just a couple of months old. Being that the car was so new, I stayed with the stock shocks. The car didn't ride all that great, but I attributed to the somewhat stiffer springs.
Several years later, I bought a set of the SLP Bilsteins. Yes, I know that everybody here says that they're not ideal for the Eibach springs. Despite that, they ride a lot better than the OE DeCarbons did, and were "only" $400, comapred to the $750 you'll pay for the Konis. Life is full of compromises, so you make your choices.....
