K Member Adujustment?
Can the K member be moved from front to back slightly in order to center it with the sub frames? I got a curb pretty good about 2 weeks ago and I have my UCA here at the house and am probably going to get a spindle and hub to be on the safe side also. However, I put my car on the lift the other day and clearly noticed that the passenger side of the K member where it bolts to the subframe was moved back about and 1 and a quarter. Almost like the sub frame was slotted as if to allow for adjustment. Hitting the curb may have caused the torque on the not to give and slide the K member back in the slot. You can clearly see where the washer/nut left its ridges for about and inch on the sub frame as if it were shifted. So can this K member simply be slid back just as it slid forward during my impact? If so, what needs to be done? From what I see maybe losening the LCA and UCA and using a pry bar would help? But the sub frames are light and will bend with any hard prying? Any suggestions or ideas?
TIA

I'm kinda in the same boat here. When i bought my car the alignment was way off on it so i took it to the shop to have it done and they said there was no adjustment and it looked like the K-member had been dropped out of it at one time. So i had my cousin look at it who is a collision insurance adjuster and he pointed out some areas where it looked like it had been in an accident at one time. But I've had other people look at the K-member and chassis pieces and say nothing in the K-member or control arms look like bent, so I'm guessing it just needs to be adjusted some how. This is something i would like to fix so if anyone could help us out that would be great.

The k-member can be moved slightly side to side but not much. The factory k-member and most aftermarket units have a locating dowel pin in the front and it doesn't permit much adjustment. If you have any other questions I can help you with please feel free to ask

Yeah i wouldn't cut the pins off either

DON'T cut he pins off....you are far better to have the frame rails pulled to restore the proper geometry then to try to hide it by moving the k-member around. The pins will only allow about 3/16 of an inch of movement in any direction.[/QUOTE]
