Default bump stop

For those who were hitting their torque arm on the body tunnel from bumps, how did you fix it? I've searched and people just say their bump stop wasn't working properly and that's why it's bottoming out. My bump stop isn't smashed in or anything, just has the outer layer of rubber peeling away. I was just going to replace them, but couldn't find the same part anywhere. Advance Auto had no clue, don't see energy suspension with any, or even ebay. Where can I get one?

I was at home depot and thought about using a bunch of washers or make a spacer so the bump stop would be taller, but I needed to find a longer screw to compensate the length. Didn't have the original screw with me. Anyways, does that sound like something I should do? And other ideas?

Thanks. I did look at a few GM parts websites, but there are so many. Thanks for finding one. Are you sure it is part # 10164173? There are 6 different ones and they don't have any vehicle specifications. However, I'm not even sure if a new one will make a difference. The stockers look intact, unless they are compressing easily.

Anyone who experienced this problem care to add?

You can't stop it unless you pretty much keep the rear suspension from compressing (not good). The aftermarket TA mounts on the diff housing are much bigger and stronger than the stock arm is, and there is only so much room in the tunnel. If you make the bracket smaller, it won't hit, but will also be weaker and a point that would be prone to failure. Basically, if the body is already dinged (and I'm guessing it is), don't worry about it because what's done it done and it won't get any worse unless your bumpstops do fall apart or you take them off.

Thanks Strano. I can't image what it would be like for a lowered car with an aftermarket TA. I might be needing new shocks cause they seem to be compessing easily. I'll check out your revalved bilstein when I'm ready.

I'm not so much worried about the ding in the tunnel, I just don't want to pop a hole in it after awhile. I hits on it easily when going over speed humps, unless I'm creeping at 1mph. It's going to keep hitting unless I change something. I would rather make the bump stop just long enough to stop the rear before hitting the tunnel.

I'll see how bad it is; I haven't driven my car in a while. Just wanted to see if anyone solved this problem.
