New rotors/pads problems..
I have to return there tomorrow because they didn't bleed the brakes worth a crap and my pedal is extra spongey, but there are a few issues I have that I'm uncertain of.
I've only had enough time to drive around town for 15 minutes, but it feels really strange.. here's what is different:
-driving the car and/or using the brakes gives off a burning smell
-vehicle feels as if a small amount of braking as continually being applied.. i.e., when I'm shifting gears it gently lunges forward as if the brake was being pressed on ever so slightly (car is a manual)
-vehicle doesn't coast in neutral. has the same circumstances as before, the car will eventually stop itself after 20 yards or so if left in neutral at around 30mph
This is my first real brake upgrade (original rotors/pads before) so this could all be normal.. but I doubt it. It doesn't feel right when driving.
The brakes work fine, it's just these little problems that concern me.
I guess I could have summarized it all by asking: are these issues related to breaking in the rotors/pads or are they a cause to be concerned?
thanks,
jason
Sometimes the caliper pins are seized up and the calipers can't slide, should alway use moly lube on the pins. Pistons could be seized, and there's other things that could be the problem. Best thing to do would be to jack the car up and spin each wheel, see which wheel doesn't spin freely.
That being said, I think the sliding pins need to be inspected and greased.
