Default Rear Isolater...IN or OUT

I am installing a set of DMS springs this afternoon and it was suggested to me by a couple of club members to ditch the rear isolaters and just wrap some 3/8 in hose around the top coil instead. For those that have done this what have been your results? I do have a sub box back there, but I took out the spare and all the jack acces. to somewhat make up for the extra weight.

And just so I'm clear...in the picture attached the rear isolater is the black rubber part on the top of the right spring?

Anyone offer some nice tips or tricks when do a set of springs?

Thanks

I took them otu but with stock springs. I would leave them in if I had lower springs, since your going to be low enoug hanway.

I did the hose mod. I bought some 3/8 in hose and wrapped it around the top coil. Looks really good so far. Will post pics when finished!

it takes about an hour to do or undo the hose mod... so try it both ways, see which you like better

I also think that isolator is there to cut down on vibration or noise transfer as it becomes an all metal contact. Personally, I left mine in on all 3 of my previous Z's. I also have some tubing type isolators that I had bought for my 97 neon that I never used. I may try them on, probably too small. I'm between getting DMS and Strano springs.

Hence the hose mod. 5/8" rubber heater hose pushed over and around the top coil insulates the spring from the body.. most people, including myself, notice no difference in noise or vibration going from isolator to hose
