Default QUestion about bilstein shocks...

Ok so i ordered a set of bilstein shocks for my 2000 ws6,, and what came in the front shock box is a locking nut a washer and a brass ring, that looks like it goes over the piston, but i dont have the brass cap for the other shock, ive emailed the guy i bought them from about it but what is the cap for? and also how do you remove the bottom seat from the shock

It is a crash plate for the stock bumpstop to hit.

ok so i do need the brass cap then right,and does it need to be pressed onto the shock or something? maybe use a rubber mallet? cause it doesnt exactly slip right onto the shock :-P,,
