Any tips for removing the nut on the shock tower?

I had to chisel mine off also, No way to get a tool on there to crack the nut and if you try a troch you will toast the rubber mount and last time I checked they were over $65 a copy. Put it back together with a liberal coating of anti-seize and seal the top of the rubber mount to the fender wall with RTV Sealant to keep water out of there.
