Ceramic Brakes I see GM has ceramic replacement brake pads available, and ceramics have become big w Brembo and others. What has been your experience on F-Body cars w any ceramic brake products? Which products in particular? Which products do you recommend, and which were a waste of money?
Re: Ceramic Brakes I have Carbotech Panther XP pads on my 2002 Z-28. The Carbotech pads are a race pad (it is not fair to judge street pads by the panthers). The stopping is absolutely amazing (compared to stock), but the dust they create is equally as amazing (and they tend to wear rotors). Remember, this is a RACE pad....it dosen't even pretend to be a street compound. But, I have had them on 2 cars now, and swear by them (who needs clean wheels???). Check out the street compound ceramic pads and the carbon/kevlar or carbon metallic pads. They will all be a great upgrade....just some make more dust than others (look at the EBC Greenstuff pads, they seem to be "low dust" as pads go). Good luck!
Re: Ceramic Brakes Carbon pads are one thing... alot of the lower mileage but better pads are ceramic and have been for some time.
The "hot ****" setups that comes ont he Porsche GT3 or whatever and other mega-buck cars are ceramic *rotor* based systems. Thats fancy stuff, adn to my knowlege, I havent seen an F-body or even a C5 with full ceramics.
