Default Need opinions on spongy brake line replacements

Got a '99 Tahoe with the rubber brake lines. The brake pedal has a real spongy feel to it. I'd like to replace the rubber brake lines with something that's non-expanding to see if that'll firm it up.

Maybe steel-braided or other types?

Leads to manufacturers would be helpful.

Thanks

Before you do that....you may want to read this.

http://www.carbotecheng.com/faq-other-q3.htm

This is from the Carbotech website (if you're not familiar with them, they make street and race compound brake pads).

Just thought this may be helpful.

Good luck!

Trackbird, thanks for the info, very logical, it makes sense where dirt and contaminants could present a bigger hazard than the benefits. It was helpful.

I'm pretty set on getting the upgraded brakelines. If there are other alternatives to stainless steel braided lines that could hold dirt (and mud, now that I think about it), I'd sure like to know.

Also considering drilled & slotted rotor replacements.

I have a 99' Z28 1LE, that had a spongy pedal feel. I installed Goodridge G-Stop Steel Braided teflon brake lines, and that problem was cured. You won't be disappointed. I also went with Neo Synthetic 610 Super Dot brake fluid. I bought them from The Tire Rack. Here's the website www.tirerack.com

Sawedoff,
Great info. Thanks for the lead.
I checked it out. They have a nice selection of rotors and pads as well.

Appreciate it.
