if i am not mistaken the drilled/ slotted rotors are fine for cars that are not driven every day..they are made for the race track due to the high speeds and high temps from severe braking...the every day commuter car or daily driver as it were doesnt need these...but hey wtf do i know?
The Baer Eradispeed rotors I saw had been run hard two or three times, like 150 mph stops and some boiling brake fluid. Now those were an extremely expensive set of rotors and they stopped great, but they had many cracks around the holes where they were drilled. Doing a little research, the tool to take the rings off of the hats was found and a new set of rings ordered. That cost about 150 w/ the required tool. So all I can say is that maybe you are paying for the rebuildable aspect of those rotors, I'm not sure how well they stop compared to a blank rotor. I think no matter how you look at it the drilled and slotted probably run a bit cooler, not enough to amount to crap on a street car in my opinion, because you normally aren't going to get them hot enough, at least I don't. That being said, if you are racing them, I think you would be prone to changing them more often without complaint. In the end I think just upgrading to a drilled and slotted rotor doesn't net you alot on the street especially if the rest of the brake setup (calipers, lines, rotor size) is still stock.
I did see rotors online had some Brembo blanks for around 100 dollars a pair. I'll probably snag a set for the rears because I warped mine. Not to hijack but the question I want to know is what pads to run with what rotors because I know it is going to have some sort of effect on how the rotors wear and cool?
I also picked up a set of ProStop Platinums from Pep Boys for my fronts a while back. They were 80 dollars and the hats were black and they seemed well built. I put a new set of AC delco pads and they have been good so far. I'll post a picture of them up.
