Default need help with a potential PROBLEM with da brakes?

Ok, when i am sitting ar a redlight, i can push the pedal all the way to the end of the pedal travel VERY easily. car seems to stop fine but i shouldnt be able to feel the end of the pedal. Also, while driving and having to come to a stop rather quickly, you can feel the pedal "flutter" before it starts stopping. This also happens at the track when trying to stop too. Any suggestions?

Bleed your brakes.

I guess i need to try that. Just didnt really think that would cause it since the calipers have never been removed or any lines for that matter. I'll give that a try.

thanks!!!

If you have stock fluid and the car is several years old and you've done some high speed stops, chances are your fluid has boiled and created air pockets.

Bleeding is the firat place to start. While you are at it, flush the whole system ...

What would be the best fluid to use? and is there a "how-to" on flushing the system?

Try a search for now, it was just discussed last week. I'll get back later if you haven't found anything.

The flutter may also be slightly warped rotors (which may be "knocking back" the caliper pistons and causing increased pedal travel). I'd start by bleeding the system....I recommend that you just bleed new fluid through the system and don't try to drain it....you'll likely have less problems if you just pump the new fluid in and don't let the master cylinder run dry. Good luck!

I'm very happy with the Performance Friction fluid, it's DOT3, and has a very high boiling point. Comes in metal sealed cans. I know autozone stocks it, can't guarantee any other places carry it. Otherwise try motul (kinda expensive, but very good)
