Default Can anyone identify my problem???

I've had my car for over a year now since I went FI and installed my 9 inch rear-end. The problem I have with the car is that every time I run into some bumps or I am slowing down, the rear end starts to smack the hell out of the underside (bottoms out) . Would replacing my 94,000 miles original shocks help any or is my 9 inch to heavy for my factory springs and shocks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

is the body of the car hitting, or the exhaust?? Most Tq arms need modifying. But what I would do is get under the car check for "wear" spots, signs of hitting, on the rear. I would 1st see what the top of the tq arm looks like, my BMR/moser 12 bolt had a issue hitting the rear seat belt bolts and rubbing bad, made a horrible popping noise when I turned.

Actually, the rear-end is hitting the body to the point that it has dented the top portion of where the 9 inch sits. I currently have all stock suspension.

I'm willing to bet your Springs and Shocks are done dude. Open the Hatch and have a few buddies stand inside where the t- tops go and have them jump up and down while you are looking under the car. If the top of the carrier hits the under body its a safe bet to say time for new springs and shocks.

Bumpstops need to be there. If they aren't, that's issue 1. Issue 2 are the shocks. They aren't controlling the unsprung weight (which is the axle), and sounds like it's just getting out of control when you hit bumps or the rear of the car is lightly loaded. Compression damping is what controls unsprung weight's speed of movement.

Thanks for the help guys. Sam I've been looking at the GMHTP article (Street car, Track car) and their using the Strano 550/150 springs and the koni single adjustable 4/3 shocks, is this a good setup for me?? I really don't want my car to drop more than an inch could you give me any advise that might help with my problem. One other thing my car sees the track about twelve times a year and is mostly driven on my days off. Thanks Andy
