Default Need to move rear axle over??

I need to move my rear axle over about 1" to the left. Can this can be done with the rear axle tie rod?

Is there anything else that needs to be loosend, before adjusting?

Thanks

are you talking about an f-body?

if so, you'll need an adjustable panhard bar.

Yeah, I am...Just bought the car 97"TA Conv. has adj. lakewood PHB. I got it adjusted only needed 1/4".....had the left side bump stop touching my rim, when it was jacked up and it was too far right anyway...now it looks even. no rubing.

I was worring about putting the lower control arms in a bind if I moved it too far. but I dont think a few turns would hurt...

Thanks anyway...

when I adjust phb's I measure from the inside of the tire to the inner fender on each side... with the suspension loaded.

what size wheels and offset do you have that your bumpstop is touching?

when the axle is hanging, it will hang to the right.. thats just what happens with a panhard bar.

It is possible to put the LCA's in a bind if they're not square because of the axle being to far to one side. If the LCA's are tubular poly/poly, they'll bind no matter what you do but an off center axle will make it even worse. If the LCA's are stock an off center axle will cause them to bind a little bit but it would have to be seriously off center for it to be a problem. If the LCA's are rod/rod binding shouldn't be even less of an issue.

In any case... If a car has adjustable LCA's its good to adjust the panhard bar to center the axle and then adjust the LCA's to get the thrust angle right.

The panhard should also be level at ride hight.

but theres nothing you can do about that unless you're willing to change your ride height in order to level it out... or weld in adjusting plates.
