Default Line Lock wiring????

It is an SLP line lock and the instructions don't tell me which wire goes on the top connector and which on the bottom. One is a switch wire and the other is the power. Which one on top???

Thanks Mike

test the positive to one and the ground to the other. . . if it goes to the wrong direction (solenoid), simply switch them. Won't hurt.

Im not 100% what you are asking about... Are you talking about solenoid wiring or switch wiring?

In either case, you cant hook up a solenoid wrong. It cant go backwards... Either wire on the solenoid should work either way.

As for wiring the system, there are some threads floating around on how to properly hook up line locks.

For a very basic "SLP" wire up, you want a positive wire, going into a switch, then from the switch to one of the solenoid wires, then the other sol. wire to ground. That will give you action in the solenoid. If you are using a lighted switch, then you need to just follow the switch wiring directions. If you arent using a lighted switch, it doesnt matter which terminal does what. You cant get them backwards.

For a SAFER better way to hook up the system, you will want to put a momentary switch inline with the system activation switch. You will go from 12v, to "arming" toggle switch, then to a pushbutton momentary switch, then to the solenoid etc etc.

So you can arm it...then activate it with the push button. Let go of the button...system turns off.

If you need more help than that...give us some more info on what you are trying to hook up.

Good luck!

Justin

and use a relay to reduce the current flow through your switch such that you've only got activation current going through it.

As for an actual answer, it's a solenoid. . .it either works or it doesn't. Won't hurt jack or squat.

Right...forgot to mention using a relay. Would have been too complicated to write out anyway haha.

I dont run a relay with mine, because I rarely use it. And its only momentary. I figured the reverse lockout solenoid doesnt use one...so I never installed it.
