Default Issue with UMI U/L tub. cont arms. Castle nuts not tight.

OK, almost through with the the k member/control arm install. Finally got stuck at one part.

I'm putting the knuckle back into place with the new upper ball joints and the moogs that came on the lower control arms. When I put the knuckle on and started putting the castle nuts on I discovered that the hole on the stud for the cotter pin is too high, almost like I need a spacer. There are still several threads left between the lowest point the nut will catch the pin and the arm, so torquing it down is not an option. It's not even tight.

This is most noticeable on the lower ball joint, but the upper is loose as well and the tie rod can be snugged down farther too.

Am I forgetting something?

you should put a washer on before the nut.

I JUST installed the UMI k-member and front lower control arms. Mine was exactly the same way as you have described but I just said f*** it and put the cotter pin in anyways.

So you torqued it down to spec and threw the cotter pin in above the castle nut just for added security? thats what i was thinking of too. ill give it a shot. maybe a backing nut would be something to add though as well.

I went ahead and picked up some washers just for piece of mind.

Sizes necessary are:

3/8s upper ball joint

7/16 tie rod

9/16 lower ball joint

Nothing was even, I needed washers for the upper on the drivers side, but not on the passengers side. Vice versa for the tie rods.
