Shocks or LCA and PHB
Shocks or LCA and PHB My rearend is making a clunking sound when ever I turn the car. It also drifts to the left or right on bumps or at higher speeds. I know it is not the alignment or the rear. They installed gears about 4 months ago but I think they did not set them up correctly but the issue happen befor gears. If I do need shocks which ones. I do not plan on lowering the car. Whats a good brand without emptying my pockets,
The side-to-side motion of the rear end could be caused by the weak factory panhard bar... Look into a mild-steel unit (or chromoly if you want to spend the money on it) and it should fix that side-stepping issue. Personally, I don't think that the clunking in the rear has anything to do with the side-step issue. Most all of our cars have that issue, but the clunking is most likely from either poorly installed gears, or you not breaking them in properly.

I suggest looking for worn out bushings: torque arm, lower control arms, etc, as well as loose shock mounts.
