Default Torque Arm

Somehow I managed to bend my stock torque arm which caused it to be rubbing the driveshaft which is causing a horrible vibration. So I was looking at aftermarket torque arms. What would yall suggest? My car is stock so I dont plan on making much power so I dont need something too strong, maybe just something better than stock. What about the Edelbrock? They seem to be the cheapest? Also, I need a new mount cuase mine is torn but mostly what ive seen is polyurethane, which im not sure I want because they cause much more vibrations.

And now that I've got a little groove all the way around my driveshaft, I may be looking at getting a drivshaft also? Whats a cheap alternative over stock for a driveshaft?

We have a inexpensive torque arm that can be seen here- www.umiperformance.com/2206

If you have any questions please ask and I am glad to help.

Thank you!

How does it compare with the Edelbrock?

There is nothing wrong with the Edelbrock unit, but we have seen a few of the Edelbrock arms break and we have never had one ours break. The Edelbrock unit is not made to handle abuse as well as this item is.

Hope that helps!

It comes with a new front bushing. The bracket that mounts it to the transmission I think can only be purchased from GM or a junk yard.

Do you happen to know the name of that bracket/mount?

Thank you

I am not sure. We always call it the front torque arm mount or clamshell. The dealership will know what you mean

I run the edlebrock t/a and it's definetly sturdier than the stocker. I was just looking for something that was stronger than stock and was quiet for dd use and on the rare occasion could take some abuse. To be honest that umi looks pretty good and they have a great rep. I must have missed that t/a when I was shopping around for one its just a tad more than the edelbrock but does look sturdier.

I can sell both though the Edelbrock is not on my site because it's not as strong.

The mounting flange to the housing on a UMI is *much* sturdier than the Edelbrock arm, and for $219 you won't find one stronger. You can get it direct from UMI, or from us http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=18&ModelID=7
