Cool Shocks?

Im not sure what shocks to buy for my 96 formy. I wanted to get the Bilstein's but the front shocks are on backorder till at least February. Any other suggestions? I don't want to lower the car with new springs I just want to stiffen it up with some heavy duty shocks. Thanks.

KONIs all around. All the cool kids are doing it.
They are a little more thean the Bilsteins, but they are adjustable and pretty easy to get ahold of. I have them on my 3rd gen and really like them. I've heard similar things from people who have them on 4th gens.

Konis' from Sam Strano. Great service. Great guy.

I had some revalves and there good, but the Konis are still much nicer!

All Monroe has are Sensa-tracs for these cars, and they aren't very good...

I would get Koni's. If you can't afford them keep saving until you can.

Its more than one store. And then you have like 4 different blistein part numbers its a mess. You can wait or buy konis. If you don't have the money I would get konis.

We'll just have to disagree. The "new" HD which is all that's been available are valved to be much more LIKE DeCarbon's than different from DeCarbon's, and that's a problem. I liked the old HD valving for cars on stock springs that folks just wanted decent control from. But the new shocks lack a ton of rear rebound and added compression back, which is not what we want.

I respectfully submit that if you were to call Bilstein, they'll tell you the shocks are great. What else would they tell you? It's not like they have other more suitable options. Further, you'd most likely be talking to someone who really has no clue. And you'd be ignoring Bilstein's own literature that tells you in no uncertain terms that HD's are not suitable for lowering springs.

Cool

Bilstein's are on national backorder. I spoke with a rep at SLP and they said that Bilstein had a plant failure a couple of months and they are just now getting back to filling the thousands of backed up orders. Also I took sam's advice and got myself some kick *** Konis!

Cool

Does anyone know what to set the front and rear shocks to? I have stock 96 WS6 springs, sway bars, energy suspension links and mounting bushings, but I am not sure what to set the Koni adjustables to?

1/4 up from full soft on the rear, 5 sweeps up from soft on the fronts is a best bet place to start from.

1 sweep = 1/4 turn.
