Default Difference between bilstein hd and slp bilstein?

I'm looking at these two sets of shocks to go with a set of dms or BMR springs. I have Hooker lt's and am concerned about clearence with the hooker ORY. I am at Texas World Speedway about 4 times a year.
I drove a Lancer Evo VIII and I would love for my car to handle the same. What should I do. Mods are in the sig.

Thanks,

As I remember, the SLP version has slightly stiffer valving. This is based on info I found on someones personal website (somewhere....). So, I'll not swear that it is completly accurate. I'd think SLP or Bilstien could tell you. Or, call Sam Strano (www.stranoparts.com), he revalves Bilstien shocks and I am certain he can assist you.

Good luck!

Im 99 percent sure that the SLP shocks are tuned for a better ride quality. They take the bite out of the HD's and make them more sutable for everyone from the people that just get shox because theyre eibachs blem em out to the person that auto x's every weekend

I'd expect the SLP's to be softer. The only actual data I could find on this was on a "personal website" (so, the accuracy is suspect) and it listed them as the SLP's having stiffer valving. I'll not swear to that, I can't verify the accuracy of that website. I'm sure Sam Strano could tell you.....

Per the rep at SLP day, that is correct. The HD's are the hasher riding ones.

I think the HD's have more compression, and the SLP's more rebound (compared to one another).

I second that. IIRC it was Sam Strano who responded to a similar question I asked a while ago at LS1.com. He said SLP takes out some bump and adds some rebound. FWIW, I've been happy with the SLP Bilsteins.

Always seemed to me that ride wise the SLP Bilstein & SLP Eibach cars rode softer that the stock suspension. When you dumped the SLP suspensioned car into a corner, it would at first lean a little more then firm up. Not quite as linear as a stock suspension car but when it firmed up firmer than a stock suspensioned car. This slightly less linear feel might annoy the serious auto-crosser until they got used to itl.

For the street this seemed like the best compromise of both worlds to me.

Just my impressions.

Here is a video of my car at an autox with the Level 1 suspension (SLP Eibach's and SLP Bilsteins).
