rocking when under full throttle

rocking when under full throttle i have a 98' z28 a4 and i have noticed that when i am under full throttle my car begins to rapidly shake back and forth i am due for a new set of rear tires ......i wanted to know if that was what was causing it.....or what you guys thoughts were?????
