Default removing E-brake from rear end

I have taken out my 10-bolt and I want to take the E-brake off for my 9" when I get it. Can I get it off without pulling the axles? I dont want to mess anything up
thanks

Greg

I believe that the ebrake assembly is part of the backing plate and to answer your question Nope, you have to pull the axles to get the backing plates off.

Pull the axles and then pull the bearings to get the backing plates off.

i thought I read you could undo the tightening mechanism and the 4 bolts and then pull it off. I didnt want to have to pull the axles since I was just gonna sell the 10-bolt. do most people get rid of the e-brake when they go with a 9"?

not generally. most 10 bolts, unless they are a pullout, are sold with no backing plates

right, I am selling mine with backing plates so my 9" will come ready to go with its own set of plates. Selling the 10 bolt with those backing plates installed will help someone else.
