I originally put 3 point SFCs (Double Diamonds) and a strut tower brace (Hotchkis) on and noticed a much stiffer chassis. The ride was no different, but you could feel that the car flexed less and was less unstable over rough roads. I just installed a UMI poly/rod panhard bar and a set of UMI poly/rod LCAs with the bolt on relocation brackets in the bottom hole. The forward bite of the car is MUCH improved with the LCAs while the PHR was less noticeable. With all the mods the car (chassis) feels more taut and stiff, but it doesn't ride rough at all and has only slightly more road nose with the poly/rod without the clunking of rod/rod. My next suspension mod is a toss up between a torque arm or Konis, but so far I feel the mods are money well spent.

What are you doing with the car? Do you want the car to hook straight? Do you want the car to handle well around turns?

Certain mods can help you in one application and have an adverse effect on the other. Like LCA relocation brackets for example can help you with your straight line traction. They change the angle of your control arms. Helps you put down power at that angle, but in turns will point your axle slightly away from the direction you are turning. I don't know how significant it is myself, but Sam says it's significant enough to hurt your ability to keep the car under control.

I may experiment with the bolt on LCA brackets myself because my racing application contains both launching and turning

Hang on now... LCA brackets won't automatically make a good handling car a complete disaster. I never said that you can't keep the car under control. They have their time and places to be used, no different than any other part.

I see that list of stuff, and I don't see shocks. And, as anyone here who's been able to compare before/after can attest, they make a HUGE difference in how the car drives. So much so they are what I start with even if stock springs stay in place. And lowering springs demand better damping that much more.

I think it's pretty obvious I sell shocks, but I also sell LCA brackets, TA's and all the rest of the stuff too. Shocks are in dire need here. Koni's are best, but at this point even something lesser would help (going by the fact the car has been on stock shocks and lowering springs for at least 4 years, and obviously on stock shocks even longer since the cars haven't been built in almost 6 years now).

No kidding, where are the shocks?? It's a crime (idiocy?) that the stock shocks are still on, esp. with lowering springs. Look in my sig, I have it all, save the Konis. I do have the Bilsteins and they improved the car's handling AND traction easily as much as all the other mods combined. To boot, they were the only mod to actually improve comfort. Shocks affect EVERY dynamic - comfort, control, turn in response, ultimate cornering, braking, traction/"hooking". I love driving the car now but I plan on upgrading to Konis based on Sam's advice and riding in a Koni car. Shocks, tires, and alignment should be your first deal. Then add parts based on shortcomings vs. intended use and results.

There are guys cutting 1.5 60 times on Konis. You need shocks, good ones. You will KICK YOURSELF IN THE NUTS for not doing them first. Ask me how I know...

i am on stock shocks right now....after doing the lq4 swap....the front sags a little more that before because it's a little heavier.....so i was considering sway bars, shocks, and coltrol arm....the cage is just for looks....after all that stuff the car will handle like it's on a rail even better than before....i will be getting ahold of sam to get some more parts

I have upgraded all the suspension on my car except the shocks and springs which I purchased recently. I would definitely get the shocks FIRST. They will have the biggest impact on your ride and handling.

Being limited by class rules, I could only change shocks. I put in Koni DA's in front and SA's in the rear. The car is by no means perfect but it is respectable at the track.
IMO Chevy should upgraded the Z28 factory shocks from the get go. They are awful. Stock for stock my freaking dodge intrepid was more stable at 100mph than the camaro. Now with the shocks the camaro is solid at all speeds right up to the govenor.
