Default URGENT HELP PLEASE - Koni SA install

Got Koni SA shocks for my 2000 Z28, got the spring on the shock, and rubber "boots" on, and have the nut on the top, but cannot tighten the nut, the shock just spins around with the wrench.....how do I stop it from turning? It the top/adjustable portion that turns, not the bottom.

Thanks!

Doesn't the top have a squared off stem that allows for a wrench to hold it from spinning?

Yes it does.

Elmer? I haven't seen one of your posts for a few years--since the LS1.com days. Welcome.

I used a set of pliers to hold the lower portion of the shaft, as I couldn't get a wrench on the top nut and still hold the stem up top.

on strano springs, i was able to hold the circular steel top where the shock cover attaches by putting my fingers between the coils. i was barely holding it still but it was enough pressure to get the nut to thread all the way down.

visegrips worked the best for me on the flattened top. I couldn't get my wrench completely on the nut, but far enough to tighten it sufficiently.
