Default Taking off calipers to paint

Well I just got my rotors and pads in, but before I put them on I want to clean up and paint my calipers. I was just wondering what is involved with taking off the calipers. Am I going to lose alot of brake fluid in the process, will I need to bleed the lines when putting them back on, whats the best way to do this, etc? Sorry for such a newb question but I've never actually taken a caliper off when doing a brake job.

I smoothed and painted mine while still on the car. They came out really good too, lasted longer than 3yrs. til i got rid of that car, they never faded, cracked or peeled. It is not completely necessary to remove them. Makes things alot easier.

Paint them while they're on the car. If you remove them then you going to have to bleed all the brakes and you'll lose alot of brake fluid.

I just painted mine last weekend. Just tape everthing down, lay some newspaper and put it on. Way easier. just make sure you clean them up good with a wire brush or something so the paint will stick.

I used aluminum foil as a masking material--it is very moldable.

Painted mine on the car also. Little more prep work but you don't have to worry about the brake fluid. Also be sure and cover the car. A large plastic drop cloth will work great. That will keep the overspray off the car. This is a picture of a members car that we did recently.

Can you change the bleed screws without brake fluid going everywhere?

Took mine apart and got rid of all the casting marks along with the texture then I powder coated them. Teardown is pretty straightfoward. 1 down, 3 to go!

Damn, you guys do some nice work! I just figured it would be more of a PITA to try and paint them on the car, hopefully I'll get this done by next week and I'll try and post some pics. For the people who just use a can, do you spray on a clear or anything after painting.
