Parking brake stopped working

Default Parking brake stopped working

after i put on my new rotors and pads the parking brake decided to stop working. It never really worked well in the first place but to make it work you had to push the regular brake all the way down then pull it up pretty high. Ive just been putting it in gear to hold it still and ive been doing this for about a week. is that bad to do?

how can i adjust the parking brake to make it start working again?

If the shoes are fine, it just seems like it is out of adjustment. Just needs to be tightened up like the old drum brakes. Also your E-brake cable might a lil stretched. Nothing a quick adjustment or swap out for another won't fix.

The parking brakes do not auto adjust like normal drum brakes, so any time you change the rotor/drum for the rears, you will need to bring the parking brakes back in to adjustment.

You will need the calipers completely off the rears in order to do the adjustment procedure. Here's a post with the details:
