THe "coil" in coil over is a spring. It will usually be included with the kit. You may have to specify spring rates or ask for a recommendation from the manufacturer....if you are not sure what rate you need, they probably will be. Don't guess.

Most coil overs are adjustable for ride height, that is one of their benefits.

LG Motorsports has a nice kit (links are to the right). The guys at ground control can help you out (www.ground-control.com). Or, the guys at truechoice can fix you up as well at www.truechoice.com (their website is not very friendly, get the number from it and call them).

Have fun!

Thumper, I've been debating the LG coilovers myself. Rears look easy, but I'm curious about installation of the fronts. How involved was that?

if you have the money ($1650) to do the LGs...they are THE best there is....

install was EASY!!!!!!!!! I remove mine every 6 months to clean the rod end/ball joint on the shocks and it takes me about 15mins per side to remove, clean, and install (jack stans on a driveway)....so...that should tell you how hard they are to install....

Thanks CamaroGuy. From the pics I've seen I can't really tell what's involved in installing the upper support brackets in front. I didn't know whether removal of the upper A-arm was required. Sounds like its no big deal though from your input, which would be cool.

To put the fronts on its like changing shocks. Put the car in the air, then unbolt the upper plate with the upper control arm on it. pull the shock assembly out of it, then unbolt the shock at the bottom. LG will give you new upper plates, bolt those in and the upper control arm to them. The assembled coil over bolts in just like a shock would. I did the whole thing I think in a couple hours. No biggie thats for sure.

I do not have pics of the car on the ground with the current settings on the shocks, so it is much lower than that. However I can not go as low as I would like due to the 4" exhaust and 4" blower inlet hanging down, the tires are just about 1" away from the fenders or so. Looks pretty sweet I think and it handles great. I wish there was some way for more people to actually get a feeling of them by telling you how they ride and handle. All I'm going to say is that they ride better than the stock 1LE stuff and it corners so much better.

I looked at it like this...a set of double adjustible Koni's would be close to a grand and then you have to buy a set of springs for 300-500 or so...right there is 1500 by the time its all said and done and if you don't like how it sits you're screwed...with LG's you just move it up or down. Mine is one of the first designs so its a little different from the current ones but not much. You can also get adj. shocks if you would like for a little more money. One other thing is that spring changes are a breeze as well.

Certainly the price is very reasonable for a nice set of coilovers and I know that the LG parts will be of high quality. Just wanted to get a feel for what's involved in the install and I have that now. Thanks, guys.
