Default WTB Key fob
Anyone have a key fob lying around for a 1998 f-body I could buy? My T/A's last owner lost the factory ones. I would like to see if it successfully programs to my car before buying; I'm in the DFW area and willing to drive to the seller to suit my neediness. I really don't trust the ebay ones from china, nor would I like to pay dealer prices. Thanks!

I have the eBay ones and they work great. On two cars. They are cheap enough that trying one would be almost as cheap as riding across town to try one.

I have a used factory one with the 4 buttons, GM PART # 16245100, from a 2002 TA. $25 if your interested. I'm just up Hwy 75 in Allen. The ones from Autozone look like they start at $54.99.

I was at AutoZone today and saw a keyfob for sale that looked just like the factory one. I remembered this thread and took a pic with my phone. In case anyone else needs one, the part number is visible in the pic.

I also attached a pic of my OEM key fob for comparison.

Thank you that's just what I need. Fob works but case is cracked.

I'm glad you bought my remote today and didn't waste your time buying a case for $14.99. There was another guy wanting to pick up that remote this weekend, if you didn't buy it.

I got some used ones off ebay for cheap. GM fobs are generic and not f-body specific. the only variations you'll see are 2 button (just lock/unlock, probably from a truck), 3 button (with trunk), and 4 button (with the panic button). so just look for 3 or 4 button versions
