Thanks to LMR, etc...
A few months back I was skeptical about attempting to try and make the event, with the questions concerning running the nitrous cars against the turbo cars in the drag radial class. But we decided to go for it, and just try and support the event.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, ALOT has been done to the car over the last few weeks. All the guys at LMR did an excellent job getting the car ready to go. They spec'ed out the motor, and heads, and had LME complete the motor work, completely rewired the car, installed a fire system, and just too much other stuff for me to remember right now.
We fired the car up 2 days before the shootout, and Josh tuned the car on their dyno the evening before leaving to the shootout, and did some fine tuning the morning before they pack up and left.
They had the car setup very conservatively on the tune. The first pass on 1 stage (250) the car went an 8.8. This was using a MSD box to ramp in timing out of the hole, until we could see how the car handled the drag radials. so this run was on a pretty slow 60' for this car. Rob also noticed the car may have had a converter issue.
Second pass both stages were fired, end result was an 8.5x run, conservative and rich on the tune, still ramping in the timing. Still noticed the converter was real sloppy on the big end. Plugs, logs looked great.
Third run we didn't make much change other than to remove the ramp in on the MSD box, and see how the converter reacted on the launch. Car dropped over 1/2 a tenth on the 60', dropped over a tenth at the 1/8th. the car nosed over at the 1000 foot though, but still ran a new best 8.4x, even with the mph dropping off big time. The car really liked the harder hit off the line, and it torqued up the body enough to break the t-top, which went flying down track.
Back to the pits, and we found we had a problem with one cylinder, All the other plugs looked great just as before, but one piston was damaged. Looking at it with a bore scope, the top of the piston had a small hole. the rest of the piston completely intact. If we could have found another slug at the track we would have made eliminations, and believe me we looked
. So that ended our day. Still I'm real happy with the car. We went out, and made three 8 sec passes. Each run we were hanging right with the other nitrous car at the event running in the drag radial class. I think the setup has ALOT more potential too.
Anyways big thanks to ALL the guys at LMR for all the work, and all the help at the event.
Also wanted to thank Rob Valden for doing a great job of driving the car, helping to get the car ready, and also letting us use his enclosed trailer to get to the race. As well as Madman, who is ALWAYS there to help out! LME for building the motor, and offering to help get it going at the track if we could find the parts. Century Transmission for the badass glide.

Glad to hear the car running solid numbers and doing it on a drag radial. I know you will have fun in that thing!

Thanks again,

Thanks man,
LME did build the motor. Crank/rods were used from my 408. Pistons were a set of custom pistons I had made a few years ago. They went into a motor that dropped a sleeve on the dyno. I sent them back, and the manufacturer said they were fine. I'm not mega rich, or have big sponsor backing so I gotta do what I can do. Wish I had a pic of it, most of the other nitrous guys there said they had never seen a piston look like that. We have some ideas what happened, but we'll have a better idea when we get it back.

Get some pics up, I'm curious as well.
Was this on cylinder #7?
Didn't you have a GMPP intake on it?
Is LME rebuilding the motor?
