Because government fuel economy requirements are going up, and big V8 cars and trucks are no longer selling. Plants are closing, even the Corvette plant is temporarily closing. The push is to build economical "green" cars. If the govt. steps in to bail out these US automakers when they go bankrupt, you can bet they will have some say in what gets built from that point on.
If Obama gets in office, you can kiss high performance wars between the big 3 goodbye, count on it. It is the 1970s all over again. That means the even slower 1980s are soon to follow.

By then they will have ultra low emissions "green" performance cars. I'm not too concerned, knowing technology will probably enable those cars to be even faster than cars now.
Some of the cars we have today will be golden tomorrow. Buy a brand new ZR1 and stash that **** and see how much it's worth in year 2040.

Only two options I didn't get were Nav and 3LZ leather door panels and dashboard. I personally think the 3LZ looks overdone, and the Chevy Nav system is horrible. Had it in my '08 Duramax. The Caddy Nav systems are MUCH nicer and easier to use and read. Too bad GM doesn't share that system on all their other brands.

We'll see high performance cars again I'm sure, just not in another 15, 20, maybe 30 years.

In the late '60s, the quickest factory musclecars were running low/mid 13s at around 100 mph. It took over 30 years to get back to those OEM numbers, in the mid-90s.
In 30 years, I'll be 66.

You aren't missing anything. Most require you to be in park in order to type an address or search. The simple Garmin stick-on windshield units are 100x better than OEM stuff. Plus you can pack those in your suitcase for airplane trips and use them in the rentals.
