You fill out the ATF form and the store will call a number (most likely FBI NICS hotline) they will aprove, delay, or deny you. If its denied technically after 5 working days they can sell you the gun without NICS calling back, some will some wont.
Paperwork generally takes about an hour assuming you were approved on the spot. If you have a CCW you dont need the back ground check. Just your license and CCW card.
If youre an out of state resident or your drivers license doesnt match your paperwork you need to get it changed or bring in 3 months of the same bill consecutive up to the latest month showing the correct address

You may not be able to get them once obama is in office. I have been putting off the purchase of a rifle for a while and I have always wanted an AR 15 so I decided it was time to get one.

I didn't get my rifle for home defense. Well, at least unless they try to come take it.
Honestly, if you guys want a specific rifle instead of sweating the rush, driving around town looking, and paying these crazy mark ups that are hitting now just go to a shop and tell them what you want. Put some $ down and they'll order it. There is no hassle. The shop where I bought my STG never had one. I just went in talked to the guy and he was able to order it and in 2 weeks I had it in my possession.

We went through this is 1994 with the Clinton gun ban. Everyone panics, prices skyrocket, after a year or so everything else will balance back out and things will return to normal. As daft, dumb, and dastardly as the democrats are, they remember how quickly and badly they lost power after the assault weapons ban. As much as they hate it, they know they are going to have to stay hands off if they want to keep their jobs. Besides, democrats have thousands of other liberties and rights they can attack to keep them busy.
All that is accomplished by paying these outrageously gouged prices is feeding the greed and encouraging them to continue. Nothing has happened to affect gun prices. Much like when the oil companies raise gas prices for no reason, they are claiming fear of a possible future event that could affect availability. There is no shortage on firearms, no bans, no mention of future bans, and the chance of a ban is small. There is no reason for anything to change. People are just taking advantage of the paranoia.
If you really want a quality weapon at a decent price, skip the gunshows. As much as I used to like them, I haven't been to one that was worth paying admission to or found a deal at one in a long time. Check out Ordnance Outsellers or Gunbroker where you can get a good price on a quality firearm.
