stolen car alert 67 camaro

I'm not technically liable, but I'd rather be known as the shop that puts it's customer first. Not to mention, I couldn't sleep at night if I told my customer tough titty. I know it should have been in the shop, but a porsche that should have been done to make space for the camaro got delayed. The guy incharge of the porsche had to skip town for a week due to his mother dying. So overall the situation just sucks for everyone. A related story though. . . A little over 3 months ago we had an older nova in our shop. This car had been worked on by us around a year and a half ago. The car got stolen out of the owners home garage. A year later the thief tried selling it. The thief lived in Houston, the prospective buyer for one reason or another got suspicious and did some checking. Long story short, over a year later the owner got his car back, the thief got busted, and we got to repaint the car back to it's origianl color after the thief had repainted it. So maybe in a year I'll get a nice suprise.

I love hearing stories like that rather than bad or sad endings. Any more detail to enlighten us on this to tickle our fancy?
Usually it's the bad guys that get away with it. Do you know if the guy is still in jail?

We did the work for a dealer that was dealing with the owner. So I don't know too much about what happened to the thief. In the beginning, the delaer had found the car, and brought it to us to spruce up. Buff it, clean up the engine bay, seat covers, etc. It was a white car. The dealer had sold it to somebody in the dfw area, and shortly after it was stolen out of the poor guys garage. There was no evidence at the scene, so the owner had to write it off since he hadn't had a chance to insure it yet. Over a year later the car shows up in the auto ads in Houston, "BLack Nova, REAL CHEAP, No Title". A prospective buyer went to look at the car. A bit suspicious of the circumstances, the buyer wrote down the vin, and while digging around in the trunk found a licsense plate and wrote down that number as well. After telling the buyer he would think about it, he went home and called the dmv or cops I'm guessing. The plate in the trunk was the original owners plate (I can only hope whoever stole my camaro is of this equal criminal calliber). Either way the cops showed up, the guy quickly confessed to the theft, the prospective buyer got a small reward from the original owner, the owner got his car back. The owner then sold the car back to the dealer he bought it from, it got brought back to us now in black paint, worked on, and sold to a new person by the same car dealer. I don't know what all happened to the thief, but tomorrow I'll be on the horn with the original dealer, and I'll see if they have any details of the sob being hung.

Well. . I won't make a habit out of it, but how about one little bump. Although I should change the post to , looking for a 67 camaro, no idea what color it is, and look out for a real cheap cowl hood.

Had to space f t w in the link so just put it together in the new window.

Looks to be a diff car but worth checking in to. Different wheels (easy to change) but the vent windows are missing (67 only). Wheels I could see them changing but pulling the doors and replacing...Maybe not so much.
I hope you find the car though!
