I need auto detail - asap
I have a black Covette and the paint looks less than stellar. Can anyone recommend someone to do some machine buffing to bring her back to life???
I would like to get this done ASAP.....tomorrow would be great..!!
I live on the SE side (Pasadena) and I am willing to deliver or they can come pick it up.
Shoot me a PM.

The hardness of the paint has nothing to do with it. They are just blowing smoke up your ***. The deeper the scrathes in the clear coat the harder they are to get out. If the yare to deep they won't come out and you have to be careful not to burn it or buff through the clear. You might have to do some light wet sanding. Just wathch out for edges and keep the rpm right.

you are not lying at all. i love the ones that have just cobwebbing and light swirls. because they look like glass after minor polishing. the ones with deeper scratches really test my patience. im actually working on this car as we speak. and short of wetsanding. most of the light to moderate scratches have came off. wetsanding is one of those things i trust a bodyshop to. never know how much clear your working with.

i guess i will have to try and do a viper one of these days. i have no experience with them but i don't understand why they would be so challenging. can you clarify as to why?

i beleive what they were simply trying to put was that the clearcoat on any other car has a lower temperature at which it becomes malliable a lil easier than the clearcoat on a viper or a vette which has a higher tolerance for heat and at that point you have to step up to a faster cutting compound vs polish. ive done quite a few vettes vipers, and various other cars to know that you have to use the benz/bmw clearcoat rouge to get a clean cut on them. one more thing you have to watch out for is buffing on ford vehicles. they mix the main pigment into the clear. so if your not careful. that red mustang or whatever ford vehicle you are buffing will end up pink if not done correctly!

Its not so much hard, but time consuming even with a rotory. With severe webbing it can take 20 hours or more just to remove most of the marring. Then final polishing from there takes some time as well. If you want to try a vette/viper make sure you have a good rotory and a good set of supplies. Ive never had much luck removing deep defects with a PC.
