what about this statement? They issue 2 when you register the car.

A person may operate
on a public highway a vehicle that displays two license plates if
both plates were assigned by the department for the registration
period as a set of plates.

Awesome! Having a front plate was something that I wasn't looking foward to when I moved to Tx here in a year, but now I don't have to worry about it!

I guess the main point is in the words may and if.

So, if you were issued two plates you may operate your vehicle displaying them both, but you are not required to.

That's the way I read it.

PSYCHE .... LOL

This bill has NOT passed anything, just being filed. I mean to pass, wouldn't the legislative session have to be called? It's only called once every other year.

The last sentence is a proposed time line, only.

hear this rumor every year. its not going to happen. no front plate would make it hard for those cameras to catch people running a red light right$? Plus it gives cops and excuse to pull you over if you dont have it up. There are two big reason$ why it wont pass.

I wish it was true though!!

Texas will not be able to afford making the second plate..........We will only have one plate because of the economy

They need to also follow the Illinois emissions program and start phasing out OBDI testing. I could care less about a front plate, I just think it's stupid I still have to pass smog check with my 15+ year old car.
