My vote is Bruce. But Maximus is a strong name for a dog.

Any advice for a new boxer owner? I've been doing a lot of research and am currently reading a book on boxer training tips
1)Take him to obedience school as soon as possible.
2) Socialize him with other dogs and other people as often as possible while he's still a puppy.
3) Pay as much attention to him as you can.
4) They like regular walks/play time.
5) Trim their nails regularly.
6) Do some research on good quality dog food, it's really important for their continued good health.
7) Regular vet visiits.
8) Consider neutering if you don't intend on breeding him.

They have great personalities, they are very intelligent and very agile animals who crave attention all the time. I've had several different breed of dog and I like the Boxer the best so far.

I did the whole dog school thing with another dog a few months ago, and all the school did was pretty much teach the owner how to train/handle your dog. If I did it again, I would only be learning the same stuff I had already learned. The only good thing out of it I could see is the dog socialization. This dog has already met 4 new dogs just today. He will get a lot of that

What do you feed yours? The breeders had him on science diet and that will be what I feed him until I start mixing it with the next food I choose. This dog will be neutered at 5 months old.

In an episode of The Jetsons, this rich guy claims that Astro is his dog (Tralfaz) and takes them to court for custody. I actually named one of my dogs Tralfaz.

What about Astro? I'm an obsessive fan of the Houston Astros and I dont know any other dog named Astro

I like Astro because liked you mentioned it brings into consideration your fanhood and because it's also a pop reference in dog names, so in a way it's a win win. I named my dog Boston, and the reason is obvious lol, but i would allways call him BO. Also how about Ace, or Auggie, Odie, Brutus, Butch, Comet, Petey, Axle, Judge, Prince and Bourbon. maybe even Chug lol

WOOBIE????

LOL I just called him that one day and it kinda stuck. I call him woobie more than Blaze.

Does anyone else take their woobie (dog) for rides in their f bodies? The very first ride i gave my pit puppy he jump out the damn window of the TA at 35. lol hasn't done it agian since. also pulled up into the yard one night after work, my daughter was out playing with the dog, he ran up to the TA and started trying to jump in the window! It to ALOT of work to cover those scratchs. But hes still my Woobie. lol

This dog will be riding in the truck without a doubt. I thought about picking him up in the camaro, but even as a puppy, it's not worth it

Good foods:

Nature's Variety
Canidae
Solid Gold
Merricks
Innova Evo

The list goes on. I have used the top 3 and prefer Canidae for price and product. Nature Variety is a great food but a bit more than Canidae.
