out of personal experience the diesel excursion i have been driving (my friends) has gotten 33 mpg on the highway, 28 mpg in the city and 18 mph on the highway towing my 28' Enclosed trailer with my T/A in it. like stated above make sure to get a pre-05 excursion. the powerstrokes made more power and had fewer problems than the new models especially if you up the boost.

where my 5.3L tahoe gets 18 highway, 15 city and 13 with an open trailer with my car on it....

?????????????????????

Are you sure about that?

Chad,
Given the 2 choices, I'd probably opt for the 7.3 Excursion. It can double as an "out to dinner" and "tow" vehicle.

I would go for the tahoe unless you plan on towing a building along then go with the excursion.

you should get a z71 tahoe, but make sure if it the new bodystyle it the z71 4x4 not just the z71 cause they make a 2wd z71 now. It's kind of embarising when your on the beach and stuck but you have z71 badges and get pulled out by a nissan pathfinder.

Looking for some opinions, I will get the Diesel if I go with the Excursion.
I know some people that have the ford excursion (diesel). On average they get 24 MPG. Some as high as 26 on the road...I have a tahoe. Nice vehicle.
Will not compare to Excursion diesel powered vehicle. Also towing with the excursion is a lot better...

Tahoe, most definitly. Better quality in the seats, and all around build. Plus the motor is way easy to work on if you have to do any routine maintenance in the future (as all chevy's vs ford). Lastly, they don't make the excursion anymore as they sold like SH** and the dang thing won't even fit in a typical home car garage.

I think I'm going to go with the Tahoe, I have been looking a little bit. For around 10k I can get a loaded Tahoe with 20-22's, I found a few Excursions around the 10k range and most had an *** load of miles.

The Tahoe does have its advantages as far as easy to maintenance and replace parts/motors if something were to go out.

The Excursion also has its advantages as far as space, towing and Diesel. Parking at the house is not an issue.

We are going to look at a few of each this weekend, unless we see an Excursion we really like then more than likely we will go with the Tahoe

Tahoes are definetly nice and you can get parts cheap, however keep in mind if you get a 7.3L excursio you should be good for about 500,000 miles ( on the motor anyways)

The world is littered with Hoes....

A modified Excursion... 4x4... awesome.

A buddy of mine had a diesel excursion in highschool, that thing was sweet. Even after the lift and such he still got pretty good mileage...
