Could it be picking up something with the climate control? On my M3 when I take the detector off the window to hide it when I'm parking somewhere it will detect laser when it is just in front of the AC/heat controls, this is also where the inside temperature sensor is located on M3's. Im guessing the temp sensor is some kind of IR laser and it trips my detector.... Is your temp sensor on the dash?

We have a 8500 and a 7500S that do it also. The 7500S sets off if a cellphone gets near it.

I'm calling Escort about it today and going to try to get them to fix it. I think since it's out of Warranty it cost $75, but I think its worth it.

My dad has sent his in twice for warranty work. Said it's the worst Escort he's had and going to switch the Valentine if he has another problem with it.

I have had my belscorts scream laser a few times when no one was around but never when i got on it. The escort 8500 i use does come unplugged when i floor it though, not enough to fall out of the socket but enough to cut power (the bel pro rx65 never did). And that's definitely not the time you want your detector to be off lol.
