Weird radar problem...

Default Weird radar problem...
OK this has never happen to me at all with my old car. Well i just purchased a 03 Z06 and noticed (not all the time) that when i get on it hard my radar tends to go into "laser" mode when there isnt any cop in sight. It has done this quite a few times. Its kinda scary but annoying at the same time. Is there something in the Z06 that may be causing false alarms? I know there isnt a cop tagging me with his laser cause ove done this a few times behind my house on a long deserted road. And i get the same results. Other than that the radar works just fine with K band and Ka, but dont understand why its doing this.. Any ideas would be great.

Its a escort passport 8500 x50 Blue LED.

mine used to do the same thing. out in the middle of nowhere.
and i have the exact same radar.
then it just crapped out and i'm about to have to send it in to get it fixed.

i have the escort passport too, and i experinced the same problem. If i layed into it, off it would go into laser mode. It's annoying as hell.

Thats it. It never did that when i had it in my camaro. And the camaro is faster too...

Hopefully someone knows what the problem is...

I remember that happening to someones car I was riding in....they'd hammer it and bamm scares the **** outta ya.....

haha that has happened to me before and a few of my friends ..all with passports.. weird.

my Valentine always goes off(Laser) when im behind Trailblazers and they hit the brakes also..

Its a common escort problem. You have to send it in to be fixed. Its usually worse is cars with a stick. Not sure why but thats been my experience with them. Great radar but that problem is annoying.

Just guessing but I wonder if it is due to a voltage fluctuation from the alternator under those conditions or maybe you are just scaring the crap out of it...

Prob scaring the hell out of it. Yet that **** does scare me. The 1st time i did that i got on it hard and was around 85 mph at WOT. Then BAM it goes off and i slam on the brakes Scared the hell out of me...

I just disabled the laser because I never picked it up anyways. Its about the size of a softball and if you do pick it up, its to late anyways.

Mine wasn't an escort radar detector but I had a similar problem. I know it sounds stupid, but I think it has something to do with the plug wires arching. Mine used to do it all the time at WOT. Around that time, I was doing a tune up and changed the plug wires. After that, it didn't do it ever again.
