T-Top flew off
Driving home from school today and just having some small fun on the back curvy roads and next thing i new my top flew off looked back and saw glass shatter into hundreds of pieces.
Pics:
My question is could i just got to a glass shop and just buy new glass for it? The top still locks and everything. It doesnt have any cracks in the plastic part at all just some scuffs

That's exactly what mine looked like.
I was on I-355 doing ~100mph and it smacked me in the head on the way off. I just pulled over and started dying laughing like: "No way did half my roof just smack me and fly away. So it happens, just make sure you lock it.
You can get a new one for like $150 though, get a new shade for it too.

lol, i had the same thing happen while i was playing with a mustang on 1960 a long time ago. i heard wind whooshing into the car and i looked over at my buddy like 'did you just freakin open your door or something?' and that's when it took off straight up, LOL
i agree, just get a new ttop and get it keyed to your car. that's the easiest thing to do

This has happened to me also, at the track. It didnt get closed al the way and flew off a little after the 1000' ft marker and flew up and over into the other lane! luckily for my friend he decided to spray against me cause if not it would have hit his car. lol
But yeah just get another, lot easier. Also who is to say that ya didnt bend that one a little, could cause leaking issues...

I agree with the others. It's much easier and probably cheaper to just buy one.
This almost happened to me a few days ago. I gave a co-worker a ride in the Z for the first time. I nail it, it gets squirrelly, he grabs the release and cranks on it. I hear a "clack" and he suddenly realizes that the handle he was holding was NOT an oh-crap handle. He was basically holding my t-top on. Thankfully we got stopped and re-secured it before this happened.
Occasionally when I take mine off and on in a hurry I'll be going down the highway and hear wind noise and have to stop and re-secure one.

lol at least you went back for yours.
I saw my pass side fly off and shatter and I said **** it and kept on driving
that sucks but yours is cheap
try finding a 79 targa style t-top for the passenger side (glass touches in the center, no body in between).
used its $450

Something similar happened to a friend of mine in a C5. She was the service manager over at Mini North and they got a C5 in on trade and she took it out for a spin. Next thing she knows the top flys off on the feeder road and shatters into a million pieces. Turns out there was a recall on some C5's for this problem and Chevy covered it. Scared the crap out of her though!!!!
