Default Texas Emissions question

I am in the middle of a head cam swap and while I'm at it I'm doing headers, y-pipe and catback. Can I do away with the EGR system and still pass emissions? When I removed everything for the head swap there wasn't a vacuum hose connecting the EGR requlator (or whatever it is) on the back of the motor to the back of the intake. This is on a 02 WS6.

Thanks,

Drew

Legally, no. Any changes to the stock emissions control system(s) will results in a failure if the shop knows what to look for (visual inspection). If not and you have the right tune, all they'll do is plug it into a computer.

Hmmmm, ok. Thanks! I was hoping to eliminate some of those hoses. Do I gain anything by excluding it?

Not sure what it is...metal tube bolts to the exhaust manifold...goes to rubber hose which runs to a round "regulator" looking thing with a couple small vacuum ports, then a hose goes behind the vacuum booster down the driver fender to the nose and disappears under the driverside headlight. Whatever that is.... I was thinking the EGR would be a big tube to the intake, but there wasn't one.

Please, excuse my ignorance.

I've dealt with the old school SBC and Pontiac motors for several years (read no emmissions), but this is my first experience with modding a LS1.
