A buddy of mine stopped by yesterday afternoon with his brand new Challenger RT. $30K for the small hemi, cloth interior but it looked so good, gray metallic. Just sayin.

The ride n drive is at Sam Houston Race Park, about 10 minutes away, which is why they were all delivered to our dealership.

Weather you like them or not I think GM is making a huge mistake by producing that car in a V-6 and then pricing it in the $30K range. I just don't think the V-6 is going to sell like they expect.

Anyone who's complaining about the price obivously has no realistic business knowledge. Conceptual Devlopment, Design, Engineering, Materials, Manfacturing, Labor, Testing, Logistics, Marketing & Advertising and the list goes on for cost incurred. It is a completely new car in a niche market that's already hit hard right now. It's a miracle it's is as cheap as it is. It's 2009 not 1995. Inflation, rising cost of materials due to consumption by devloping nations. GM is selling them at as low a margin as they can while tetertottering on the border of collapse. Maybe the government will start subisidizing American made vehicles. That will solve the problem.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $23k for a V6 model. $23k can buy you a very nice Accord/Malibu/Camry or some other nice family sedan that's a lot more practical. Just saying you pay a premium for a sporty coupe, even in V6 form. The V8 is on a whole different level, and I wouldn't mind paying 30-35k for one of those. Anything over 35k though, and you might as well buy a Vette. I really think the C7 should move more upmarket(like 60k base), and really give the 911 a run for its money on the interior and overall refinement.

those look sweet. Price is not expensive at all. Even a Accord coupe loaded costs more than 30 grand with 260 Vtech HP.
That is a very reasonable price for a RWD 300hp V6.

$30K for a loaded V6 vehicle isn't bad, compared to the rest of the market. But, GM needs to sell a lot of these (and every other car in their lineup), and at that price, that's going to be tough.

Who wants to buy a car from a company tip-toeing on the fringe of bankruptcy?
The front looks slick, but that back looks horrible...the interior is worse...and a V6??? It probably needs all of that 300hp to pull its fat butt around.
No thanks...

Trouble with that argument is, you're justifying the cost to a forum full of car enthusiasts (and GM enthusiasts, at that). The average consumer doesn't care how many man hours of research went into R&D of a car. They care about what the car costs.
