Default Inspection question

How close do they look to see if a car is supposed to have the egr on it? If I hook up the air and remove the egr will it be noticed?

if you actually get an inspector that knows what he is looking for you might get caught!! but most of the time they dont look that hard

No problem with mine. It was removed 4 years ago. They lift the hood only to see what I have added since the last inspection.

i wouldn't worry about it... the only place that would probably notice is the dealer since they see those cars all day and know what they should and shouldn't have... and if they notice it somewhere else then they are prob one of us anyway so no biggie lol

not really, there's a sticker on your driver's side fender well that maps out the EGR routing. every car has them, and it's for a state inspector to easily identify the equipment that he's looking for.

just throwing that out there for you guys

01+ didnt come with an EGR from the factory. inspectors arent going to know year to year changes and do you seriously think an inspector is going to start reading vacuum and emissions routing diagrams and start tracing hoses around your engine bay? no.

you're right about 01+ not having EGR from the factory, but it's a simple diagram that's on the fender well, a 4 year old could figure it out. Inspectors know to look, it's not that hard.

as long as you have the code turned off and it wont set an SES, you should be fine. I was able to get my car to pass, the EGR on the v6 is pretty obvious too,
