The world ending in 2012 is freaking retarded. The mayans just got tired of writing a stupid calender, got to 2012 and said "why the **** are we doing this? It's not like we are gonna be alive this long anyway, I got other **** to do". Hell we should be dead now, since the world was going to end in the year 2000 also...........
As for the movie itself as a movie it looks pretty good, the director has said though that he does not believe in aliens and does not believe the world will end in 2012. Looks cool though, so I will go see it probably.

Obviously you haven't put much effort into finding out about this 2012 business. The Mayan calendar doesn't "end" in 2012, it completes a 5,125 year cycle which was last completed on August 13, 3113 BC. The different theories are that we'll either enter a higher state of conciousness (the 4th dimension) or something equally significant will happen. Now, December 12th 2012 isn't when it will suddenly happen, they claim it's already in the process of happening and 2012 is when it all "comes together." The changes will ramp up more and more as we approach this date.

I don't really buy into this whole 2012 scenario but only time will tell. To believe we know everything is quite arrogant... but I guess that's what we humans are about; egotism, arrogance and violence.

Yes I have put effort in to it and it is dumb. There is no way we know that the mayan calender is a 5,125 year cycle for sure. **** I am gonna go to natural bridge caverns here in san antonio and start making a calender on the cave wall and stop in the year 5423 and on my birthday just for the hell of it. They are gonna be all scared and **** in 5423 thinking the world will end.

I don't think the mayans predicted ****, they claim that they predicted we would start destroying the earth around this time and it is up to us to stop it and so on.
