Drunk driving is a heinous crime and deserves a heinous punishment. It is 100% avoidable. There is no excuse for ANYBODY to ever drive drunk. And shockingly, people who drive drunk pretty much always are just SURE they're perfectly safe to drive. His age is irrelevent.

As for GTFO, it's a public forum, meathead. You post, people can reply. makes not a bit of difference if you like the reply.

I am not defending drunk driving, nor am I saying it should be looked at lightly. However, in this case he was right on the line. There is no arguing that he was breaking the law, and deserves whatever he gets. I do not believe that he was to the point of endangering anyone else on the road.

I think you saying that he deserves to be locked up for 5 or 10 years is laughable. Trust me, I see where you are coming from though.

And as for me being a "meathead," I hope you don't go around trying to hijack peoples threads and expect them not to get annoyed.

I agree 10000000% you drink and drive you are gambling with other ppls lives....

And Before I get flamed.... I was at a red light with one of my Bestfreinds sitting beside me in his car in the other lane... I look away from him talking to me when I hear a crash....Drunk **** rearended him goin 70 mph and never touched the brake...

His car caught on fire and had him pinned inside of it....I tried everything I could to get him out but got to listen to him scream till he was DEAD...anyone every smell a pesron burning??

The guy got off with a slap on the wrist compared to the crime..... So lets just keep making it easyier and easier on them so ppl are not scared to do it ...

Or we can make it sooo tuff that you will not want to drive after a sip and save some ppl from going thru what my freind had to go thru

Hmm, for you guys who just said "dont blow" that is a very bad idea. That is an automatic one year suspension on top of your liscense, and certain state laws allow for them to take blood once booked. and a blood test usually shows up higher than a PBT because it allows time for the BAC to go up.

Did they have him blow again once he got to the jail?

If all they did was the field breathalizer, then it will get thrown out. They have to do it on the "official" machine back at the jail.

I agree with both Take 2 and Dirty Dog. It should be one of the harshest punishment we give out do to the cost so many pay every year do to someone eles drinking and driving.

I think he should get a lawyer. Do the time for the crime and try to help others from making the same mistake.

I agree with what everyone is saying about drunk driving, and it being unexcuseable etc... but the things that happen, happen when someone is drunk... and honestly .08 is no where near "drunk".

Most people are not impaired at .08. The law is on the conservative side, and .7999 would have been legal.

Refusing to blow is automatic 6 months suspension. I unfortunately know this first hand.

If you get convicted of a DWI it's will get suspended either way. I think I talked to plenty of attorneys and said refusing to blow is the best thing.

How are you gonna agree to blow then fail the test and have proven results that ur over the legal limit and try and fight it? You have a way better chance of winning a case without the evidence.

Just think of that judge in Johnson county I think it was got a DWI and refused to blow or do any test. As for all the cops you hear about on the news refuse to blow when they get busted. There was even DA in Dallas county who got a DWI and refused.

Not entirely true. The vast majority would be dead, but not all. I've seen hardcore olympic caliber drunks able to stagger around over 0.800. And frankly, if you want to impress the ED staff you're going to have to be able to function in excess of 0.500. The world record, held by a CA man, is just over 1.0.
30 years of trying to patch up the victims of drunk drivers has convinced me that there can be no punishment too severe.

Thank you. These guys saying that he needs to be locked up for a long time for a .08 are being a little ridiculous.

I see where you guys are coming from, but I think with a different cop, they may have just told him to call a cab.

This is getting way off subject.

I had a friend who blew a .095, and because he was able to pass every field sobriety test with flying colors, they gave him a PI instead of a DUI.

Jeezus. This guy comes on here and asks a very simple question and pretty much all he gets is a few douce bags preaching at him.

Everyone makes mistakes. I'd advise your friend to at least speak with a lawyer to get a good opinion on the matter.
