Default Need Help with buying a motorcycle.

Im buying a GSXR1k online and the bike is paid off with title in hand. im payin cash for it and was wondering what all i neeed to do before we do the swap to make sure everything is legit. i have the vin# but i have no carfax.

once i have the title can i have the name changed on it without having the persons original name there?

and is there anyway for a title to be foul and not REAL?

thanks for the help guys.

hold it up to the light to see a water mark. now for the bike being legit the only way to be sure your not being scammed is to do the deal in person. i could imagine the local tax assesor could help you run the vin # to make sure everything is good .

Doing a "bill of sale" when purchasing the bike would be a good idea.

Run the VIN, do not buy a bike you have not checked the VIN on.

I've bought 4 used bikes over the last decade and haven't had an issue with any. One even had an out-of-state title with the current owner not even listed on it.

Have fun and be careful. I found out quickly some nice riding gear is cheaper than ER visits.

Can you do the transaction at a bank? Wonder if they can check.

I just ran the vin. Its clear, no liens.

You shouldnt have a problem with the transfer, but you need to print a I-30u form from the TXDOX website so he can sign it and fill out the proper information

You should print out a buyer/sellers form online makes things easy.
