It shouldn't even ask you for anything if you're wired.

Have you tried doing the XBL test?

What does the error say when you run it?

My xbox wouldnt connect when I first set it up with the router. Go to your router settings page.

If you have any issues connecting on XBL make sure:
You have your xbox getting a static IP
You have the proper ports forwarded for the xbox's static address, specifically:

* TCP 80
* UDP 88
* UDP 3074
* TCP 3074
* UDP 53
* TCP 53

i would unplug your router and your modem for about 30 seconds. durning this time your xbox should be off. plug them both back in and wait until both are initialized then once they are turn your xbox back on and it should automatically log in since its lan.

Try connecting that same ethernet port to your PC and see if internet works, if it doesn't, then you know it's something with your setup.

If it does, then I would call your ISP, as sometimes they block XBL ports.

noo nooo you guys.

He needs to have his ports forwarded to those settings I gave him.

Turning off everything and turning it back on wont do a thing. His ISP has nothing to do with the blockage of the XBL ports. Its his router itself. It might be UPnP (universal plug n play) but that dont mean crap when it comes to XBL. Im 95% sure that if he forwards his ports,itll work. The other 5%... could be anything lol.

Read the long post in this link

Yes, your router might no be linksys. But either way, that guides you through the steps on what you need to do. Still have trouble, let me know... i'll try to help ya out. It frustrated me when I couldnt figure it out. Following those steps, it finally worked and works flawlessly.

try connecting it directly from the modem to the xbox and skip the router/switch you have setup. also, if you are plugging a switch in directly from the modem that will not work.

ok hope this helps first you have to set up a static ip address on your xbox follow instructions on link http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-xbox360.htm

now you have to forward the ports click on the link it has the instructions for your router http://portforward.com/english/route...x_Live_360.htm

it might be a little confusing if you have any question just msg me or reply on here.
