I would shell the extra 300 for a used T56 that would last way longer, T5 built or not, the shafts are too close together, it is one of the main problems. The"center line" as i think it is referred to.

T5's can be built to handle some abuse. I have customers making well over 400 hp to the rear wheels with modified stock T5's. You can also install an Astro A5 gear kit into a T5 which is pretty stout as well. The key to making one live is using a soft hitting clutch and do not use them with drag radials.

C4's are not a bad way to go either if its a track car. They pretty much such on the street though. Another good option is a face plated Tremec. I have seen some used ones floating around lately. People are hurting for cash so there are some deals to be had.

Don at Lethal Performance here in San Antonio has a rebuilt Trans King C4 for sale. He just had it freshend up locally and called me yesterday wanting to find out how much to ask for it. PM me if you want his number.

i made close to 500 at the wheels with my t5 with no problems with a centerforce dfx clutch and et streets, G-force makes a badass rebuild kit for them if you wanna go that route.

Yep, i was making 500 FWHP or so with a 383 on my stock T5 in my 89, so you can say i was past the 300 ft lb stock capacity rating. Lasted thru even more than that before a stock L98 on a 100 shot killed 3rd gear.
